Vehicles in German Town Discovered Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Authorities stated they were notified by a man who discovered a vehicle in Hanau smeared with red-colored substance

Around fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.

Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they announced in a statement.

Officers say they were contacted late on Wednesday night, when a individual observed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.

The substance had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Police then found many other vandalized cars and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Officials state preliminary tests suggest the liquid was probably blood from a person.

"There is still no clue as to where it came from; officials are not yet cognizant of any physical harm in connection with the occurrence," they stated.

City officials announced they were working "to solve the incident" and have requested to the community for information.

A high-ranking political figure said the incident rendered him without words and had to be addressed promptly.

"This incident affects the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the extremist terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on social media, referring to the murder of nine victims by a shooter targeting individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
