19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hardcourt

A resurgent the Russian player won his maiden trophy for over two years with success over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The athlete, a former number one, has had a challenging period, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in particular - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.

Now working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought competitive win over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This represents the player's maiden championship since the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface after spring of the previous year.

The win also indicates the Russian has secured twenty-one championships at 21 different events.

"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my children at once, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his last six finals, comprising in the German tournament previously this season.

The player's defensive approach and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had caused commentators to wonder if his skill to perform at the elite level was finished.

However the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and perform positively, backed up by an improved serving game.

He fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, winning 4 of the concluding five points to go ahead.

Both players traded service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his initial ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to push for a decider.

Moutet rescued 4 early-game chances in a close final set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Appropriately, Medvedev earned the win with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
